NEW DELHI: Rate hike in the Federal Reserve System in US and a widening current account deficit closer home snapped a 3-day winning run in the equity markets on Thursday.
30-share BSE Sensex lost 139.34 points to close at 35,599.82 while the broader 50-share NSE Nifty managed to stay above 10,800-mark despite losing half a per cent.
Both IT and PSU Bank sub-indices lost 1.5 per cent during the day's trade. Pharma which gained 2 per cent was the only sector to finish in the green.
