Actors Richa Chadha, Manoj Bajpayee, Rajkummar Rao, Sai Tamhankar and Mrunal Thakur are all set to attend the London Indian Film Festival which begins June 21 as their upcoming film Love Sonia will be premiered at the festival.
Director Tabrez Noorani, who makes his directorial debut with the film, will also attend the screening. Resul Pookutty, the film’s writer Alkesh Vaja and the entire crew will also be in attendance.
Inspired by true events, Love Sonia this is the shocking story of a young Indian village girl whose life is drastically changed when she is trapped in a sex trade racket while trying to save the one person she is closest to, her sister Sonia.
Love Sonia has been shot in Jaipur, Mumbai, Hong Kong and Los Angeles, and will hit theatres in India this September. Freida Pinto, Anupam Kher, Adil Hussain, Sunny Parwar, Demi Moore and Mark Duplass also feature in the film.
Director Tabrez, who has been involved in a real-life rescue mission that took place in Hong Kong and India, said in a press statement, “ We were keen to make a project for a global platform which would speak volumes about an issue which is a terrible problem faced by almost every community, and which has not been adequately addressed. This movie attempts to cast light on this issue.”
