NEW DELHI: Equity markets on Tuesday snapped an impressive run as both Sensex and Nifty lost more than half a per cent.
The benchmark indices had opened in the green and stayed flat for an extended period but a sharp fall in rupee in mid-day trade caused them to start losing and the slide could not be arrested till the closing bell.
30-share BSE Sensex 216.24 points to close just a shade below 34,950 while the broader 50-share NSE Nifty finished below 10,650.
