AB de Villiers welcome: Chris Lynn invites South African for Big Bash League | cricket

AB de Villiers announced his retirement from all formats of international cricket on Wednesday and offers from various T20 leagues to secure his signature are already on their way.

Kolkata Knight Riders’ Australian batsman Chris Lynn has approached De Villiers on Twitter, letting the South African great know that the No. 3 batting position at the Big Bash League (BBL) franchise Brisbane Heat is open.

His tweet read: “Want to bat 3 for the @HeatBBL @ABdeVilliers17 🤔 I know a bloke...”

De Villiers’ decision to step down from international cricket will possibly make him available for domestic competitions in various countries. And the BBL will certainly be a top choice for the former South Africa cricket team skipper, who played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League this season (IPL 2018).

Brisbane Heat have already roped in the services of Kiwi star Brendon McCullum and Pakistan spinner Shadab Khan for BBL’s eighth season. Howeer, Pakistan are set to spend their summer touring South Africa with the series beginning from December 19 until February 6.

And if Shadab can fix his position in Pakistan’s team across all formats, it could rule him out of the BBL entirely, leaving a spot open for another international player.

Lynn’s KKR will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 2 of the Indian Premier League on Friday, presenting an opportunity to booking their place in the final against Chennai Super Kings.
